Cinco de Mayo! Our special two-part program tonight celebrates this triumph of the Mexican people over the occupying French military forces and the reinstatement of President Benito Juarez, the first Indigenous president in the Americas.

Part One features News Headlines from the Americas, and an exclusive interview with San Francisco attorney Bill Martinez on the Hillary Clinton State Department’s blocking of Cuban folk singer Silvio Rodriguez from performing with Pete Seeger in New York for his 90th Birthday celebration. Guest Chesa Boudin discusses his new book “Gringo” and his exciting travels in Latin America. We will hear excerpts from the works of Eduardo Galeano, the Uruguayan author whose books sales have risen since Hugo Chavez gifted President Obama with a copy. We add the lively spice of musica, as well as a calendar of upcoming cultural events.

In Part Two, Mr. Chuch offers the story of Cinco de Mayo, with a mix of musica, history, poetry y mas! Enjoy the fiesta!
